HI-USA’s “Leaders in the Field” Program
HI-USA is sending their top brass into the trenches.
Hostels Put Senior Leaders to Work
For the first of what promises to be an annual program, senior leaders from HI-USA ventured to hostels across the country to work side-by-side with hostel staff to gain a better understanding of hostel operations. Coined “Leaders in the Field,” this year’s program was held during the week of September 8, which was also International Housekeeping Appreciation Week.
This hands-on program put leaders right on the front line, collaborating with other staff and immersed in what it takes to run a hostel day-to-day.
How often do you work reception shifts or take housekeeping shifts in your hostel? If you are not the owner or General Manager, how often does that person do these things?
Do you think it’s a good idea for upper management to get involved in the daily operations of the hostel?
