Its great to have a campsite IF you have extra bathrooms and showers for them. I always get people in my hostel who ask to camp in the garden and lots of people would love more places where to put up their tents. Lots of my guests travel with camping gear even if they rarely use it.

Thanks for th response, The potential for a camp site is huge with showers and toilets.
Only problem I think is that the location is 7 km from town 5km from the beach, so i am not sure.

Don't think it will be a problem.. Guests choosing for a combination of campsite and hostel will love nature and to be out of of town..
Looked at a similar possibility.. existing campsite in The Netherlands along a massive lake with heaps of watersport activities.. open a small hostel next to it.. Approx. 20 minutes by public transport from Amsterdam..

People will have to be prepared to be in a remote location, well not really remote the beach is only a few km away and town is 7 kms. I suppose the option of a small shop would have to be considered to supply basics to campers.

If you're a few KM's away from where ever you're guests need to go, maybe you could consider renting bicycles?

It can be really good, I don't know where you are but consider spots for camper vans if possible. Just watch out for campers and campervaners stealing pot pans and knives from your kitchen. They can be pretty good at that:)

If you are planning on opening a hostel in a town where the main draw is the outdoor scene, how important do you think it is having a location close to a downtown area (walk to shopping, restaraunts, etc)?
In such an area where people are camping a lot, would it be profitable to offer showers?
