Only women hostel or budget hotel.
Women has become frequent and independent travellers these days and would have travelled even more if have felt themsleves secure. I myself travel a lot and know that hotels specialized on women are a rarity and quite expensive one.
As a an business person I see the number of tangible advantages which will have positive impact on the existing business model: women are more clean, accurate and orginized at the same time they less agressive, violent, and drink less on average hence the hostel will require less spending on cleaning and maintenance annually, less damages on furniture and equipment. One can object that the demand is significantly smaller than in case of men but at the same time they are easier to target and as I said such hotels can be counted with by single numbers.
I am thinking about european capitals like berlin / madrid / amsterdam / barcelona and although the business model for the hostel is quite simple itself I am still on the early stages as need some partners for inspiration and motivation.

What is the legality behind this as wouldn't you be discriminating according to sex?
Would someone be allowed open a men only hostel?
I am sure that would be a fun place.
Also would you not allow male staff?
Again if a man applied for a job there would you be discriminating against him if you didn't give him a job because he is male?

What is the legality behind not allowing certain types of clients /black lists for regular hostels? What is the legality behind not allowing enter to the most popular club in town, what is the legality behind not allowing enter the best restraurant without tie?
seriously, if you run a hostel and at your door is some junky with awful smell and animals in the hair will you allow him or her to enter? My answer is yes, because it is bad for your business, may be he or she is not a threat to your guests and there will be no phisical harm but still ...

Under EU Law you cannot discriminate on the grounds of Racial or Ethnic Origin,Religion or Beliefs,Disability,Gender or Sexual orientation.
The examples you give are not covered but not allowing men due to them being men would be covered.

Look I am just making clear you understand what you are doing.
I have no problem with a private business discriminating on their own grounds but just to make you clear.
Just be ready to be brought to court at some stage.
I actually think it is a good idea and a niche market.
I know of hostels that have female only floors with extra things for females.
You should go check out these hostels.

i think there are alwyas marketing tools that helps you to avoid law violation and furture court expenses. Formally the hostel may have only women dorms and if the man wants to stay he will be offered the private room. In this way I will be honest to my target audience women and at the same time price of the private room will be ... to be it politecorrectly demotivating for the most part of potential male customer base.

And then it is the question of promotion. If I promote it among females it will automatically gives me less requests from male customers.
And yep I know about female hostel in amsterdam although had no chance to stay there because it is alwyas packed wehn I decide to go. You see there is a demand. I know couple of place in Berlin. Thanks for Rome. And it seems that these are the only ones. or may be acouple more. But still
