The Hostel, the OTA and the NDA (the good, the bad and the ugly)

Is it true, or has anyone else experienced - that certain Hostel Owners - who rely on the top OTA's - have a deal that says you are unable to lower your price on any other hostel website, lower than theirs, essentially because their clout is such that - they have a huge portion of the market and if you don't agree to it and set your price lower elsewhere - because maybe your not really happy with the deal you have but have to stick with it - that you will be removed from their site, and lose 75% of your bookings almost overnight.

Then to discover, the those same OTA's have been offering others hostels a different rate, which, was to be set as standard for everyone.
