Doesn't seem to be a javascript issue (the request goes through just fine) and cookies *shouldn't* affect that IMO, so I guess it's their server side script not working.
Kind of a big deal, I think.
(Oh, and hi, everyone. ;) )
I'm unable to sort hostels by average rating or by price on Hostelworld.com anymore.
Here is how to reproduce the issue:
Is it working for other people? I can't sort the hostels here. I wonder if good and/or cheap hostels are losing money because they're not at the top of the list anymore.
I'm guessing it's either a JavaScript error (with the select box) and/or a cookie problem.

I can't get price sorting to work properly, average rating sorting works for me in destinations with only a small number of hostels, but doesn't seem to in larger cities

Hostelworld.com has some other bugs relating to cookies which is why I mentioned cookies. For example:
Then immediately after you do that, go to this page:
http://www.hostelworld.com/hostels/Paris
Sort by average rating and it should work. Then clear all cookies (ctrl-shift-delete in Firefox). Then sort by average rating and it won't work. The select box won't hold the selection "average rating" but will flip back to "Sort by".

I think it's a serious issue for hostels that have high ratings or are offering low rates.

Notice that it displays photos for the wrong hostel. It's not the hostel in the current tab -- it's the hostel in the most recent tab open, two tabs to the right.
It must've been years since I first noticed this particular bug. Kinda weird that it still hasn't been fixed...

I wonder if their programmers use tabbed browsing. The bug is probably only seen by people who use tabs a lot.
I think many travelers see a list of hostels and middle-click (or ctrl-click) to open a few hostel pages in tabs at once...
