I'm interested in hostels that have forums on their Web sites. The only hostels I've seen that have forums or bulletin boards are YH Plakias, Flying Pig and Generator.
Any others?
What do you think about having a forum on a hostel Web site? Is it too risky to let people post user-generated content (UGC) directly on your Web site, or do the benefits of having an online community outweigh the risks?

I know the piggie forum. People post up reservation requests. I figure it just causes confusion, as the staff probably doesn´t know which ones are already answered by the more appropriate means of communication for things like that: Email.
I wouldn´t do it.

As far as the User Generated Content goes, it think it would give the hostel more freedom to address negative feedback direclty, and it would show other readers that the management actually takes that feedback seriously. Of course this assumes that someone from the hostel is consistently monitoring the forum.
