Interesting...
I would make the search box smaller, move it to the left, and put a big interactive map of hostels to the right.

Also, this is misleading to travelers:
(There aren't 30 hostels in Miami or 24,000 hostels in the world)

"30 properties" would be more accurate. Even according to Hostelworld.com, Miami only has 9 hostels and the rest are hotels and other accommodation types:

Oh i'm sure it has many bugs as it's new.
And this is not the only minus,
the owner's comments disapeared, no video which is a big miss,
reviews from hostels.com and hostelworld.com ane now back together,
it looks more simple and more looks more like hostelbookers. Also there's now advertising of one other "similar" hostel appeares at your microsite.

Well, I've found 2 pluses though - I like the idea of making the logotypes bigger and you can see last review when you choose the hostel.

thats a huge search box. can't miss the search box at all. not bad really though. will take some getting use to as well

Looks better than the previous version that is for sure. Still does not work quite right with Safari on Mac like the previous version though which is annoying. Use to be nice and fast but over the past few months it has been getting slower and slower.

I was using the new Hostelworld site and there is a great improvement -- properties are clearly distinguished by type:

This is a good thing.

The only thing that is still confusing is that privates are priced "by bed" which is misleading to travelers. This property marked by the "X" isn't starting at $16.14 per night. You can't book that advertised room for less than $64.55 and it has capacity for 4 people. It's like saying Motel 6 is $30 per night, and then when you go to pay, they say "that is per bed and you have to book two beds in the motel room -- so the total is $60."

The property below is selling a $64.55 private room for 4 persons, not a private room from $16.14...

on the new site it now list ratings by anonymous

Why would that be do you think? I myself like seeing the name of the reviewer as I believe it looks a bit more real.

I've been notified today from another hostel that currently ratings are disabled in the new website.
The users can send the review but the hostel won't receive any.
It makes sense for me as we haven!t received any ratings since 22nd July(!!!). :S
Can anyone confirm this from other hostels as well?

Hiyas ,
Just want to add that we are getting reviews ( latest one 4 days ago) from Hostelworld.
But we are unable to gives replies ...

Replies to language reviews are currently disabled, apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Hopefully it only has to do with the new site not being fully finalized yet.
As I mentioned above, seems they are alot of
"Anonymous (Country Unknown) (Gender Unknown) 03 Aug 2010/" instead of the reviewers name.
It may have something to do with security as we have been asked NOT to mention the guest name in our replies. (first name or full name).

Any clarification about this would be handy.
