They have so much business that using hostelworld would be a loss for them, they don't need to lose that 10% to HW.
We had many of such hostels in Europe... about 5-10 years ago. None of them needed HW. Since that the mainstream travelers got used to the BEs as much as not many hostels would dare skipping HW from their marketing strategy...
