Hotels Reporting Wave of Cancellations under the Arizona Business Boycott

Arizona just passed an extreme immigration law that requires police to ask people for their immigration status papers if they look like they might be illegal immigrants. (What does an illegal immigrant look like? :confused:)

If the police don't ask for papers the police can be sued by citizens (including by the organization that helped write the bill) for not enforcing the law(!) :confused:

The bill was apparently written by people with "white supremacist" ties:

In response, some people have now started a boycott of Arizona, and hotels are reporting a "wave of cancellations reservations":

Arizona's recession-ravaged tourism industry is nervously bracing for more economic woe amid mounting calls to boycott the southwestern border state after its tough new immigration law.

Hoteliers across Arizona have begun to report a wave of canceled reservations in the wake of Governor Jan Brewer's decision to sign a law Friday which critics say will open the door to racial profiling by police.

I'm not sure if this will affect Arizona hostels because there aren't many there. Looking on WRI sites I could only find 2 or 3, but there may be as many as five or more hostels in the state:

• Flagstaff: 2 (gateway to Grand Canyon)
• Mesa: 1 (?) (near Phoenix)
• Prescott: 1 (seasonal)
• Phoenix: 1 (?)
• Tuscon: 1 (?)
