You have been there! The airport at Heraklion, Crete is named Nikos Kazantzakis, the author of Zorba the Greek.
I just learned that the UK has an airport named after John Lennon.
Why can't we do that in the USA? We should rename the "Seattle-Tacoma International Airport" to the "Jimi Hendrix International Airport" :D
Any other interesting airport names from around the world?

Absurd, in my view.

Interesting you should say that. I lived in Seattle in the mid-80s. They had a senator called Henry Jackson (who did not seem very popular, at least in the left-wing Uni area where I saw most election signs). I knew nothing about him, being non-American.
He died. Immediately everybody said what a great man he was. The officials desperately looked for something to name after him. They settled on the airport. (I'm not aware he had any special connection with air travel.) So for a while, it was indeed "Henry Jackson Airport". Which among other things, led to confusion with Jackson MI. (But Washington is used to confusions :D ).
I went to a public meeting on the naming. Every speaker said "I've nothing against Henry Jackson, but....can't we keep our old familiar name "Sea-Tac"? For a change, the People won, and it went back to Sea-Tac.

Why?
It´s a much better idea than naming airports after silly politicians. Liverpool can be proud of John Lennon, so there´s nothing wrong with naming the airport after him. Or the main square!

They do that here a lot. We had the Ronald Regan Airport just 10 years after he left office, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport just 5 years after his 1-term as President.

But you already have the Charles M. Schulz Airport in California. Which has Snoopy on its logo. Not sure if he's one of the pilots there - seems to have a limited destination list - though does fly to the future Jimi Hendrix airport.
If flying from an airport named after the creator of renowned failure Charlie Brown doesn't interest you, you could always try John Wayne Airport, complete with statue of the Duke to watch over you.

They re-named the Houston airport after Bush Sr, even though he is from Massachusetts.
