Hey Steve,
My partner and I have been interested in hostels for a number of years. We have a somewhat related software business at the moment. I'd be keen to hear your ideas.
Regards,
Olan
I'm still very seriously thinking about opening a hostel, to escape working for 'the man' in the less-fun-than-you'd-think film/media industry!
I've recently started a new job, so it's gone on the backburner for now, but I still want to develop the idea into a reality. Having a business partner would make it more than an idea and it would be great to have someone to develop a plan and open a place.
I've stayed in 100s of hostels/guest houses/B&Bs/small hotels all over the world and have a few ideas about what a good hostel might be. I love travelling & travellers (well, most of the them)and even after living in London for over 8 years, I'm still a huge tourist here. At 32 years old, with lots of project management and some management experience, it's time to start something for myself, combining my interests with something that will (hopefully) give me a decent livelihood.
I'm pretty open to the where and the size of the place, but I would prefer to open a medium sized place in London or another city in the UK. I have £20-25k, but would need to share financing with a partner and possibly other investors, as London isn't cheap.
If you're looking to start a hostel, it would be great to hear from you. If you have experience or knowledge of setting up hostels, then I definitely want to hear from you!
Cheers,
Steve
