Hey Marvin,
Happy to chat about this, if you have a better idea of costs etc, have experience in travel and business and would love to do this
Hey guys,
during my backpacking trip this year I was constantly thinking about how exciting it would be to open a hostel in Thailand;
I am currently looking for a business partner/s to start a hostel. The good thing is,that I am a
Thai Citizen which makes a lot of things easier for me e.g. language, culture, buying property.
Currently I'm living in Germany (I have both nationalities) and I will go to Thailand in april 2019 to look for some land or a building which could be renovated.
I prefer places like Pai, Chiangmai, Krabi. These are highly known cities on Thailands mainland in which many backpackers are looking for a hostel.
I have no real life experience in running a hostel/business, everything I know comes from people who work in hostels, from my high school with subjects like business management, economics, accounting and from videos and discussions etc about hostels. I know its a shitload of work and planning but i prefer it than my current 9 to 5 job an this normal, boring way of living.
If you're interessted in running a hostel in Thailand please let me know,
it would already make me happy to discuss this toppic with others, even if I'll have negativ results.
I mean: right know it's a dream for me, maybe it will stay a dream or it will come true. I dont know that yet.
carpe vitam
Greetings
Marvin

Hey Marvin,
I'm potentially interested in talking more about this, although I'll know a lot more in a month or so. I recently came to the realization that its time to stop putting this off and finally pursue what I've known I wanted to do for a while: own a hostel. I have no practical experience in the business, but my plan includes first working at a hostel that I have a very good relationship with the owner and learning the basics, then striking out on my own (or with a partner).
I'm traveling to Thailand for a month in November, and one of my primary goals of that trip is to learn as much as I can from hostel owners/managers there and evaluate the scene as a potential landing spot. Full disclosure, I'm also seriously considering South/Central America where I have more of a shot to learn the language.
While I have no hospitality experience, I'm a very smart and friendly guy who currently works in business operations. I would be able to handle finances and operations without a problem and I'm confident in my ability to learn new skills as I have to. I also work at a startup that will be going public soon, so I should also should have a good bucket of money to get this off the ground.
My next 5-6 weeks will be busy planning my trip and then enjoying myself on it, but I'm happy to discuss more if you'd like!

Howdy Marvin!
Here am talking about setting up a New hostel with immense growth scope and booming travel industry, places like Bangkok, Krabi, etc prove to be a safe bet for investors. Am looking for partner/s who is willing to set up the business and who feel the concept of a community, inclusiveness, cultural mix. The initial design for the Hostel has been laid out that describes the uniqueness of the venture, the structure, services, and products offered etc. This will be a conceptual hostel that will offer a value throughout the stay of the travelers, Yoga, craft, Life skills, etc will be a part of Hostel environment. With zero waste management, this hostel will be a cost-efficient venture that'll invite travelers from all around the world to contribute. The aim is to make this Hostel a self-sustainable little world of its own. This concept holds a lot of potential and growth prospect.
Let me know if you find this interesting.

Hi both of you,
This sounds really interesting, and feel the 3 of us could gain some synergy between us. I also have plenty of experience with startups as well.
Shall we all arrange to speak?
I have plenty of travel experience both professionally and personally.

Hi Sam,
I guess we have things in common as we feel a mutual purpose of setting up a hostel. I have designs with me that details the uniqueness of the venture. The project has the capacity to shape the concept of Hostelling.
I would to have a conversation about it !

Hi Marvin and all,
This is Nikcole here from Singapore and it is my first time in this Forum!
Reason to this forum - It is time to sit down properly and think of my dream. - To have a hostel that would be able to connect to all travellers from everywhere and anywhere! Been travelling around and really love the concept of providing a comfortable place out there as compared to my current 9 - 5 Job in my country.
I have tried setting up a few businesses here including an event company / a cafe, however, a trip to a meditation retreat in Thailand have made me realise that I would wish to materialise my dream earlier. If I would set up on solely on my own might take a longer time. Would be happy should I be able to find partners here!
Should anyone be interested, would be happy to explore together more with you guys!
Do drop me an email @[email protected]
