There is a Russian analogue to Facebook vk.com it's a very powerful network if you use it right. Also try analogue of Google ads for Russian market on yandex.ru it calls yandex direct.

Hello to all,
I am Alex and I work at the Abraham hostel in Jerusalem.
Lately we thought to try and research some option of marketing targeted at the russian speaking countries (as a growing source of independent travellers).
Did any of you ever tried marketing for russian speakers?
any Ideas about the subject are most welcome!

Ah and don't be too optimistic: Russians prefer cheap countries now because of the exchange rate :)

We had a successful experience of social media for Russian to our hostel in US. @Lyuba correctly pointed to the vk and Facebook. It is just not only Russia but also Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus. While adding that was opened for us by asking russian guests: among Russian-speakers the social media were more influential to choose lodging for the night, rather than for example the same Tripadvisor :exmark:

We are looking to target Russian backpackers too. Wanted to know if there are any more avenues that you guys found out. Definitely going to try vk and Yandex.
