For a 59 bed hostel, based in Spain at 55% overall occupancy, I have calculated it would cost €16847 per year for combined gas, water and electricity (2 washers and dryers included). After several weeks of "playing" with formulas I have what I think are detailed estimates but it would be nice to get some feedback from more experienced members.
Granted you are all in different locations running different sized hostels etc, but I just wondered if these figures are roughly correct.
Any views are welcomed!!
Cheers
With the information you have provided, it is very hard to evaluate your figures and determine how well they would approach reality. In your case, much depends on which part of Spain your hostel is located. For example, will you need much air conditioning, or temperatures are nice enough to not required it during much of the year, in what percentage of the year? Or, on the contrary, do your require much heating? How well insulated is the building?
Calculating energy costs per hour are easy, provided you have the energy consumption data for the equipment and the cost per unit of energy (electricity, gas, etc.).
It is how long you use each equipment which will determine your final cost of energy expense. And how long, depends much on the weather (temperatures at your location) and your building insulation.
