I thought that gun ownership was pretty easy in germany? And was causing debate because of the number of kids causing massacres in schools? Since the dunblane massacre gun ownership has been very restricted in the UK. In the USA they say that if gun ownership is a crime only the criminals will have guns. Which is probably better than the mentally unbalanced and criminals having guns, like in the USA

There was a lot of discussion about banning some computer games, but not really about guns. I don´t actually know how easy it is in Germany to get a gun - maybe it is easy. I just don´t know anybody who owns one. You´re considered a weirdo if you do.

Absolutely. Simple game theory: if you´re a burglar and you know almost nobody owns a gun you do your business unarmed. If the police catches you in flagranti with a gun, you´re going to be locked up for a long time. If they catch you unarmed, you´re just a burglar. That is worth the risk of bumping unarmed into the occasional homeowner who actually owns a gun. If, on the other hand, you´re a burglar and know that most of your victims are armed, you must be armed as well. The result are lots of unnecessary shoot-outs over a plasma screen, notebook or other stuff like that.
And that´s just the reasonable arguing, without involving the mentally unbalanced!

I don't know if most burglars carry guns. Feel free to bring your AR-15 to political protests though :)
