hi everyone...

im wanting to open up a hostel / backpackers in spain but along the coast.but im not sure where.i was thinking of marbella or basicly along the coast around there along the different coast towns.
but im not interested in the cheap packaged holiday destinations as i dont think backpackers go there.
do you get many backpackers along the coast,if so where?

also because i have travelled but not owned or ran a hostel before i was thinking of leaseing a property then turning it into a hostel,redecorate etc.
any thoughts on this?

Hi jon, When it comes down to the choice of leasing vs buying it all comes down to what is in the contract. Do your market research on the area in question, people to ask include Hostel Owners & GMs, Department of Tourism and local tour operators. While you are doing your home work, go get a job in a hostel in your town, failing that the local hotel instead, be a sponge, be open to everything. Managing is not a skill, it is a multitude of skills. Inquire at the local college if they have programs that include entrepreneurship and small business management.

Hi Jon, I know there are some hostels up in the Lake district, what about working in one of them for the summer for work experience?

hi mate.

well i have worked in hostels before in australia so i do have a good idea what and how to basicly run one.im more needing advice on a good location along the spanish coast.i know quiet alot of people travel to lagos in portugal and obviously the cities in spain.but what about the coast,tariffa i think is popular with water sport people but what about the the rest of the area.marbella, estepona , etc...

any ideas
