People don't like to talk about it much, but it has to be prepared for. How does one control pests, such as bedbugs, at hostels?

Many people do not know how to handle the problems of bedbugs. I know of one hostel that was even spraying garden chemicals on the mattresses to try to control the problem. (Not recommended.)

What are some effective techniques to control bedbugs? Does anyone have a technique that really works?

Ya .. most pests are controlable .. those bed bugs are very nasty, v\ery dificult to detect untill the are biting people, and almost impossible to get rid of by consumer means. Got infested once by a vagabond type man who was not clean and had a infested sleeping bag. This is one reason why a lot of hostels have a rule about usuing sleeping bags. We now only allow sleeping bags for the Boy Scouts and other youth groups that I am relatively certain are using their sleeping bags on a regular basis.
The bugs, we had an pest control company come in, that way I get a garauntee of ressults. But took two trips and screwed up business for two months, plus the loss or a good group that just happened to arrive the weekend after this guy.

A lot of hostel managers pay attention to the type of beds to do their best to avoid bed bugs but overlook other parts of the hostel.

The one time I got eaten by bed bugs was on an old sofa in a hostel's TV room. I am now very wary of hostels that have old ratty furnishings in their common areas.

Yeah we know hostels suffered very badly from bed bugs. These bed bugs are very nasty and annoying. We should take some good precautions for these bed bugs like best pest control services.
