Providing Internet Access for Hostel Guests

Hi, new poster, apologies if this is not the correct place to post this.

We offer free WiFi to our guests in our bar/restaurant/all rooms/guest balcony. We have also just purchased three notebooks (13 room guesthouse, no dorms) which guests are free to borrow free of charge anywhere in the guesthouse, we are still deciding if there should be an overnight charge for notebooks borrowed for a long time to ensure there are always one or two available, we will monitor and see if we need to introduce a charge, or buy another notebook. I feel that most people are travelling with their own laptops/iphones etc so 3 may be enough for now.

We have 2MB download 6am-6pm and 4MB download 6pm-6am and 24 hrs Saturday and Sunday, half upload speed and dedicated u tube speed from our ISP but I'm not too clear on that-Very fast for Cambodia and we actually are getting more than that at some points during the day. We used to have two PCs offered free of charge to guests which took up a lot of space, were ugly and frequently broke/malfunctioned/got too hot from being on all the time. We have recently changed from repeater WiFi access points through the guesthouse (which really didn't work so well and we had lots of complaints and comments) to hard wired WiFi (same access points but just cabled to transmit the internet connection better) and this seems to have solved all connectivity issues for our guests. We use the modem provided by our fibre optic ISP, a Microtek wireless router and TP Link WiFi access points on our upper levels. I am against charging for WiFi at all and plan to increase the speed next year and possibly buy more notebooks if the demand is there.
