Retweeting vs. Creating new tweets?

Hi guys. We are consistently creating new events on our website, and therefore new pages on our website. We have noticed that @hostelblogs often tweets these event pages. I'm wondering if it is better SEO/marketing/whatever (I really don't know much about social media!) to retweet these blogs with our own twitter, or to create our own tweets about these events as well. Or both? Though that seems overkill, as they are the same content. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.
