Apparently they'll be leaving the airport in Pau in Southern France due to a disagreement about the amount of subsidy they receive from the local government. Details here . I'm sure they'll have no real shortage of other areas trying to get a Ryanair deal. Although the whole concept seems a bit strange to me I imagine it makes financial sense if paying Ryanair means you get hundreds of thousands of extra tourists to your area a year. Bit like paying top golfers appearance fees to come to your tournament whether they win or lose. Brings the paying spectators to the course.
