Any suggestions on things to see or do?
Make sure to wear some flowers in your hair! :D
I'm headed out to San Francisco for 2 or 3 weeks. Any suggestions on things to see or do? I've been to San Francisco before but only for one night in the City.

Arrived in the San Francisco area. Nothing exciting yet, but explored the Berkeley area today looking for office space.
Fog creeping over the hills. It comes in daily, dropping the temperature by about 10 degrees.
California supermarket:
Party snacks -- tiny fried crabs:
This instantly became my favorite supermarket: Berkeley Bowl -- cheap, and huge selection of unusual foods.
Found lots of good stuff that is difficult to find in most parts of the US -- purple potatoes, round zuchinni, dried plums & nectarines, diced cactus pads...

Hemp Drinks? But the photo of the supermarket is amazing. Never seen that amount for fruit and veges before!

It's incredible -- there must be 20 kinds of mushrooms... wide selection of heirloom tomatoes at around $2.50 a pound (normally $4/pound in Massachusetts with limited availability), even chicken feet right in the front of the meat display (will pick some up next trip :D)...

Did you go to the the wharf to see the Sea Lions? I would suggest getting a stir-fry in Chinatown, but I got food poisoning last time I was there!

I haven't been into San Francisco yet on this trip, but will definitely go to Chinatown...

I am on GH back to DC from Boston, I should have asked you the same thing before heading up there. I stayed at HI-B (206 beds) for three nights. I went to Copley sq, Samuel Adams brewery and a good Indian Restuarant on Mass. Ave.

Avoid the warf and pier 39, unless you're into total tourist traps and food like TGI Fridays and Bubba Gump shrimp. A couple blocks up from the warf you can catch the cable car into downtown.
Alcatraz, although a popular destination, is a sight to see. Great self guided tour with an mp3 player.
Great night life in the Marina district, start at Chestnut and Steiner and just work your way down the street. Great anytime of the day, really.
Have a look at the Presidio, now home to George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic. Great time of year to check out the parade ground near fort point and enjoy the weather.
The newly remodeled ferry Building is a nice place to grab an organic lunch. It's right near the Bay Bridge, not far from the baseball stadium either.
Chinatown is cool, there is a famous chinese restaurant there called the Far East Cafe, it's been in a few movies and has been there for 50 years+. It's losing some charm, but still good eats.
I'll be in the city September 4th with a couple other hostel owners from Central America.

Vacation?
I might still be in the area in September. We're opening an office in the Berkeley area (more news on that soon), though I probably won't be here for more than a couple of weeks at a time.

I'm from a town about 2 hours west of Boston. If you're ever in Western Mass I could recommend some things to see...
Worth a visit:

Took a few photos from the Berkeley Marina:
San Francisco skyline:
Golden Gate Bridge -- I'm not sure if Alcatraz is in the photo on the right or left, or if it's hidden:
Berkeley, California (probably the future home of HostelManagement.com)
