Hey guys,
Am planning my trip to Scandinavia this winter. Am considering riding through Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Have you guys stayed in any hostels in the mentioned countries? How is the situation with hostels in those countries?
Any special remarks?

In sweden I stayed at the city back packers in stockholm, the website was great and looked perfect for me. there were lots of cool people there, real close to downtown, free pasta (uncooked and no sauce which i thought was funny- just a big thing of noodles for free, just to prepare you) theres a sauna downstairs, a really cute cafe, nice sitting area outside- overall a cool place definatly worth a stay. heres the website, good luck!

Sweden is one of the very few countries where you can´t go wrong with the YHI hostels. It might be worth it to get a membership card.

Well, Sweden is not really a backpacker destination, so don´t expect to find superb social hostels outside Stockholm. The YHI hostels seem to be well managed there - just full of families.

im pretty sure swedish hostels would be like the rest of sweden - well designed, attractive, organised and outrageously expensive.

true - i studied there for 6 months. now norway - THAT place is pricey.
sweden just has such a shocking reputation in that regard that when people arrive and see its not 6 times the price of the rest of europe and only twice, it seems pretty cheap :P

The HI hostel Haroldsheim in Oslo is the BEST! (least it was when I stayed there in winter 2006)
Delicious fish, meat and cheese buffet breakfast, gorgeous cozy rooms, lovely warm staff and a fantastic setting on a sort of snow covered plain! Insanely overpriced but that's Norway!
