In my experience it's all in the market in your area and the demand. In Portland we have higher than average occupancy stats and the travelers that we attract generally have larger budgets. Thus, my business model is have a fixed price and offer it all year round. We have only been open for four months now and our average occupancy continues to be high so it's not an issue for us. I had considered offering weekend and weekday rates, but it just starts to feel as if you are milking folks rather than doing them a service. My vote is to find a rate that fits and set it for the year, but it all depends on the region and competition.
