Hello guys! I am currently living with a guy from hawaii here in brasil and i am also very interested on investing there! are u guys looking for a business partner:
good luck
Hi There,
Me and my partner have two hostels here in Europe that are doing well and we were looking at Hawaii as a possible next move. We'd like to get more infos in regards to starting up something in that state. We would like to take on a lease on a building/large house suitable for an hostel but we have the following concerns:
-We are foreigners, that means we have no existent credit in the US,Would that make it hard to lease out a property?
-What kind of permits/licenses are needed in the US in order to open for business once we got a place leased and ready for business?
-If we lease a space that is already zoned as commercial do we need any extra permit/license to trade as an hostel?Does anyone know what the procedure to get what's needed will take in terms of time and money?
Looking forward to all suggestions
Thanks
Fabio

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I'd contact the city departments in Honolulu. I think that all hostels in Honolulu have to be in Waikiki, but I'm not 100% sure. If you are looking at another town or island, it's probably different...

I lived in Honolulu in the late 70s. The AYH had a hostel far from Waikiki, in a residential street a mile or so inland. It was a dump. Maui Island had a government that was strongly geared to the richer market, and didnt seem to want budget tourists. There was a hostel run I think by the YMCA, not well publicised. On the Big Island there was a very quirky hostel run by a very quirky person who will have died by now. But I'm sure lots of things have changed.

Hi
I see last post was 2013. Is anyone still considering a hostel in Hawaii?
Thanks

We are still looking in either a take over of an existing hostel over there,or if someone know of a space that could be leased and converted into a hostel. From the time i've posted this we've opened other hostels in Spain,Puerto Rico and Cuba. Not looking for an active partner, hands off investors are welcome though.

Hi Graffiti,
I've been travelling to Puerto Rico and I loved the place! I'd like to open a hostel there (or maybe Cuba, due to the great potential from the US), could you tell me more about the hostels you've recently opened? Would you have any advice on where to start? (I've just started the online Visa applications)
Thanks :)

Hi There,
We have contacts selling their hostel in Fajardo, next to where the ferries to Vieques and Culebra goes to if you're interested. Or perhaps we could sell you ours in San Juan if you're interested.
Regards
