Thinking of buying a hostel in NH
Wish there were more info on hostels in the US. Seems like this is more international but I'm thinking of purchasing a home in the White Mountains of NH that is already set up like a hostel. It has a main house with 14 single beds in 5 bedroom and an in-law apartment attached with a separate entrance with 2 bedrooms having 6 beds and it's own kitchen and bathroom. Right now the Owner has it set up to rent either the main house or apt for a nightly fee. $350/night for the main and $175/night for the apt.
I've been looking for hostels along the Appalachian Trail to cater to AT hikers but this one is only 10 minutes from a trail head and also close to ski areas, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, biking... so many outdoor activities.
The place is listed at $229,000. I do own my house so have the funds and will try to get if for less. I'd like to keep my job (just work 3 days a week) and start this place as a hostel to rent the beds out for $25/bed. But thinking with my job, I might just rent it out as one place to start and rent beds if it's not rented less 30 days before arrival. It can sleep 20 - 25 so a small place which I like. I rent properties now in the Lakes Region so am familiar with rentals but only have visited hostels (mostly along the AT) so not so familiar
with running a hostel. Guess I'd like advice on if renting the beds separately vs. renting the house all together. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
