Albania is an interesting country - but in all honesty I think its on these lists because of the 'travel wanker' points you can score by going there. Lets face it, we all want to get 'off the beaten track' even if its off the track for a reason.
Nothing against Albania, I had a great time there - but the #1 place to go this year? Really?

Lonely Planet didn’t give much more reason than “it’s off the beaten track” for making it their #1. BnA put it so high because of this article listing "Eight Reasons to Move Albania to the Top of Your Travel List."
I haven’t been there yet, but maybe I’ll check it out this summer.

Algeria? Really?!
I've spent a lot of time in Kuala Lumpur, definitely deserves to be in there.
Interesting that Cape Verde is in there. I'm surprised no budget airline has launched a route there yet.
