I'm waiting for this tomorrow, as it's the first LTS for a few years. I think if it works OK I'll update all the public access PCs. Hope they introduce a workable guest account system for kiosk type installtions soon.

No good kiosk software available yet?

Ther may be good kiosk software, I'm not totally sure. As Ive developed the system here I think what I need is not a locked down browser as such but a limited access system, which the customer can use various features on, not just intenet. I thought the guest account would be good, but as far as I know, you have to be logged in as an authenticated user before switching to guest, which doesn't suit my needs. I run one windows PC with steadystate, which is very good, all changes are erased on boot.
I'll play with it when I get around to it - it always takes longer with the new versions of ubuntu, as with my intel onboard graphics I have to install it all in safe graphics mode and then manually edit the xorg.conf file in order to get 1024x768 resolution.
