Don't forget the recently popular "staycations", a vacation where you don't travel anywhere. It was used by retailers to suggest you should just go shopping with your government refund check and stay home all summer. I even saw a reporter from "Travel" magazine promoting this on "Good Morning America". There is some real irony for you.

Strange conclusions from the AAA:
The priciest destination will be Honolulu, where room and food for two adults will average $673 a day.
I think Honolulu can be traveled at well under $100/day per person if using hostels and self-catering and eating in local places. Even the Radisson was under $100 per night for a private room with 2 double beds last time I was in Hawaii. At least one budget hotel was as low as $50 to $60 for a private room...
