Thanks, I'll look into that for the next trip. Might head to Europe for 3 months next summer. I wish it wasn't a Schengen country...
Before Schengen, it was 3 months allowed stay per country, it was much hospitable... The recent three months in, three months out policy is really stupid... sorry for that! Those guys in Brussels must be bored eating waffels and growing their ass!

This is not really done in Brussels. I happen to know that because I once had a job at Austria´s ministry of internal affairs - organizing conferences for European bureaucrats. The problem are the ministers who always ask for tightening the screws to keep out immigrants. They don´t even consider what a pain in the ass those rules are for tourists - not even here in Austria, which depends so heavily on tourism.

They should change the visa requirements for foreign tourists. Instead of being able to spend money for a whole year in the Schengen Zone, we can only spend money for 3 months... :)

Iceland? Could be a destination next summer. Their currency is in free fall right now - their entire economy is bogged down by the American credit crisis, which makes travelling there pretty cheap. Exactly that kick-started backpacking in Argentina!

apparently there are a few countries where kiwis dont need visa, but aussies and brits do. havent looked into it in detail... i think its more because id like to carry 3 passports around :p

Would you state that there are only insignificant number hostels in these countries? Which ones you miss from your world conquest? Is there any legend available for which colors mean how many visitors?
