I am in the process of creating my business plan and think I will only need people who will work there for a free bed, maybe 4 of these "Resident Assistents". Also using interns who are interested in hospitality. I am wondering what other hostels do about holidays. Are you opened on chirstmas? I know it is small issue, but I need to know what to do in this situation. Thanks .....
Also, I was recently talking to a hostel owner who explained that he registered his hostel as a rooming house. Is this legal? and is it feasible. So you know my situation, I am from the US. Thanks

I think most hostels are open on Christmas.
The hostel/rooming house issue is probably different for each city. Some cities have special zoning laws for hostels... others have never heard of a hostel and don't know what to do about them yet :)
