Hello, I am opening a second hostel near the first one. In the first hostel i have a wooden bunk beds, in the second one (its a small hostel with 20 beds) only two rooms are ready and i have put there wooden bunk beds. The other room where will be 8 beds is not yet ready because of the weather situations that we had here on the Balkans. I am thinking there to put bunk beds maden from steal. I have heard that bed bugs are not going on steal bed. Is that true? And if anyone from you have the bunk beds from Ikea this one: http://ikea.bg/DefaultM.aspx?page=productview&iID=37986 Are you satisfied? Are they strong? Thank you very much I wait for your answers :)

This subject has been discussed at length. If you do a search on bunk beds in the box top right you will find many threads. I think the general feelings are:
a. Some prefer wooden bunks, some prefer steel.
b. IKEA products are not strong enough for hostel use.
c. Bed bugs can be found in both types of bed but they have less places to hide in a steel bed.

We have alreaqdy discussed it before but I do not agree with point b and c
Ikea product are strong enough. They are less nice, less durable, more noisy, but you can use them (at least the ones in steel)
Once you have bugs, they do no mind where to hide. They will stay in the room, and look for people in the night. They usually stay in the mattresse, but, whatever they stay, it does not matter.
I prefer non IKEA wooden beds, anyway :)

I agree that IKEA furniture can be used. I would recommend to anyone who does use it to regularly (every few months) check the tightness of the bolts or other fixings. They seem to be more likely to work loose (in my opinion) than some more expensive items. A bit of preventative maintenance can help a lot.

I understand that I was a little late for the party, but I have some interesting observations that I want to share.
I know I late...sorry for bumping...
I built a bunk bed for my boys back when they were little. They eventually grew out of it and the bed was disassembled and stored for a long time. Somehow, it came up in conversation with my friend T, so I lashed it to the top of my little car and took it to his house.
With the help of his two young boys, the perfect choice for a bed like this types https://10restbest.com/best-loft-beds-for-adults-and-kids , we reassembled it. These aren't my normal construction journal pictures, but they show how the bed goes together. The creation of the bed was done mostly with hand tools, and all of it is hand made. It goes together like a puzzle.

The headboard went together first, two stretchers on the bottom, three on the top. Then the long poles were inserted into the holes, again two on the bottom and three on the top on each side.
