Where are you located? Is it sunny?
(I just saw a nice solar water heating system in Czech Republic.)
I was wondering what kind of solution for water heating you use, since it depends on hostel capacity maybe you can post your individual solutions.
From what i know i can use from Gas or electricity:
tankless heaters or electricity tanks.
Can u give me some hints in terms of energy consumption, for more or less 50 guests what would be best solution?
Thanks!

I am located in Portugal, Solar heating would be perfect, but it s still very expansive, it´s quite big innitial investment. On the long term i am sure i would get the money back but really in long term.
So for now i am still stucked between gas and electricity :/

How much does it typically cost to install solar water heating in Portugal?
(I'm curious how it compares in different countries.)

Here in Greece all properties have solar water heating so it cannot be too expensive. I can find out costs if needed.
We started with one large domestic unit and have since linked in a further two units. The last two have a thermostatically controlled electric heating element that is sometimes necessary in the evening.
I would estimate that between 80 and 90% of our hot water needs are provided by the sun.

Here in Sevilla is the same than in Portugal, installing costs are too high.
I know also that there are also diesel boilers that are used for water as well as for warming the rooms or the floor.
