Hello hopeful answer providers,
I am an aspiring traveler aiming to find some work in a hostel. I just realized that, being an American yearning to travel and work in Europe, I might need some sort of work permit or work visa or some sort of documentation to permit me to travel a bit. Ideally, I would like to spend a few months in one place and perhaps visit a couple places, but I would be willing to move around a bit. I also just realized, as I am writing this, that a hostel work exchange may not necessarily require a work permit, although depending on the duration of my stay I might need a visa for a respective country. If anyone would be willing to share any thoughts or insights, I would appreciate it.

Yes, you do need a work permit in Europe, and as for travel "tourist"you just need a regular touristvisa, you have the right to stay in a country like Sweden for 90 days after that you can go to Spain and stay there for 90 days. If you stay longer in a country in Europe you need to apply for a permanent "green card"

It used to be like that, but now Americans can only stay in the entire Schengen Area for 90 days in a 180 day period. Then we have to leave for 90 days.
If we stay in Sweden for 60 days, then there are only 30 days left to stay in Spain... :(
