Windows 7 debuts next month for developers
This 28 October 2008, the pre-beta version of Windows 7 will be unveiled at the Professional Developers Conference (PDC) for developers to road test before it comes to market, which is expected to be as late as 2010....the new Windows 7 OS will have many multi-touch elements incorporated, as well as a pared-down approach where previously available pre-installed software will now be available ‘in the cloud’ through the Windows Live portal.

Is anyone using Windows 7 yet? What do you think of it?
I saw a nice Sony desktop computer with a touchscreen and Windows 7 the other day. I think this was the one. Instead of using a mouse you can touch the screen...

EDIT: I had originally posted this in a separate thread, and then realized I had already asked this question here -- I've merged the threads
Windows 7 was recently released. What do people think? Are any Windows users here planning on upgrading from XP or Vista?

NO, not for some time. My original career path was in software development/IT, one thing you learn very quickly is to hold off on buying Microsoft software until it has been on the market for at the very least a year, that way the first 10% of bugs have been found and you know what problems you need to prepare for.

Haha, MS have that same attitude with their hardware as well...release a bug ridden console with a "fix it later" attitude, when will they learn!!

Its actually genius, after they make the billions selling the software, they make extra millions on their MS certification programs - teaching people to fix all of the problems.

I love it and have installed it on all my public computers. I am using a program called Drive Vaccine PC Restore plus for the rollback, as steadystate is not available on Windows 7. People have been testing it for a good year now, and so far the computers have been as efficient and stable as a mac, which is my preference for my own computers.

Do you like the program?
(I added it to the computer security wiki page.)
