Well, I can obviously speak for DC!! ;)

It agree that it should be on the top list being that it's politically a major city of the world and has a lot to offer. In the past ten years, I can say it's become more international as far as the nightlife and dining. You can enjoy authentic Ethiopian, Indian or Peruvian cuisines for cheap (I like to pretend DC is becoming like a mini NYC in the dining sense). There are also a lot of free museums, concerts and parks. This is a great site to check out free stuff in DC. http://washington.org/visiting/browse-dc/attractions/100-free-things-to-do

Not to mention that Northern Virginia and Maryland also have beautiful parks, the Pentagaon (in Arlington) and shopping malls like Tyson's Corner, Pentagon Mall, etc which are only about a 30min. metro ride away!

Ok, that's my two cents on why DC is great!! Can you tell I'm getting homesick ;)

The food in DC was great. I heard the museums were free but I didn't have time to go. I would definitely go back...

The only other ones on that list I've been to are Hawaii, Budapest, Mexico, and Berlin. All four are great places to visit...

im looking forward to seeing panama later in the year, it seems a bit like the forgotten country of central america... well, to me it does.

vancouver's a nice city but canada is better for the outdoors than the cities, but i suppose vancouver's a good place to explore BC from.

im looking forward to seeing panama later in the year...

I saw a TV show about Panama and it looked like it's still possible to get off the beaten track. Lots of jungle...

If you haven't seen it already, there are a few hostels in Panama on HostelManagement.com...

I just remembered -- there's another hostel in Panama that I've seen on Facebook. I think it's on an island off the beaten track. I chatted with them a few times but they don't speak English and my Spanish is terrible :)

I'll try to find the name and post it here...
