Does your hostel accept phone bookings?
What are the pros and cons of phone bookings? (e.g., no-shows)

phone bookings can be just so safe for you as online bookings
just let them sent the cc deatails treu 2 difrent emails
and then confirm or iff the booking is for the close future tell them you keep the bed till a time when that time expires

We never accepted phone bookings unless someone was already en-route to the hostel. For all others we asked them to send an email.
Aside from payment and no-show issues, I think the email method is best because it avoids confusion. It prevents situations like having three people show up for four nights when you thought they wanted four people for three nights. It also provides written documentation of their request and your response.

We take phone bookings. I don't think they are any less secure than an internet booking as long as you ask for the guests cc number.
Phone bookings are often less work than email bookings as questions can be answered on the spot, and there is no need to wait for a reply if any clarifications are needed.
Also some people don't like booking on the internet. Why would you rule out these people?

We accept phone bookings as well. ALthought we are definitely trying to steer people to go online and reserve but will not refuse a booking. Not everyone is computer literate as strange as that sounds. No use limiting your opportunity to get an overnight. Might be different in major centres in Europe or Australia though.
