Hi all. Does anyone know of any Uk accountancy firms that work frequently with Hostels? I've spoken to a few now and they're all happy to change the word hotel to hostel but very few seam to have direct hostel industry experience!

Having seen your other thread: Do you really need an accountant at this stage? If you are planning a business plan for a potential hostel, you would certainly benefit from help from people who know what sort of incomes and expenditures a hostel would incur. Accountants become needed after you have got going and may need help with how to analyse your figures and present them in the most tax-efficient way, and they don't really need to have a deep knowledge of hostels to do that.

If you are planning a quality friendly hostel in London, I would be very interested in following your developments and could help you with financial suggestions. For my website www.uktrail.com , I plan to visit hostels in London in the near future, so I may gather some useful background knowledge!

Apologies uktrail, I should have been clearer, the reason I'm looking for an accountancy firm with a background in hostels is because I am looking to get sound market research and data so as to confirm my own assumptions and research which will be essential to secure the required financing. I also need average industry KPI's to benchmark against my own accounts.

I really should have put 2&2 together since i have your site bookmarked!! I will certainly keep to up to date on my progress!

Sorry, I'm more confused -- I didn't know accounting firms do market research.

And I don't know what a KPI is, or what it stands for.

And I don't know what a KPI is, or what it stands for.

KPI stands for Key Performance Indicator. As the words suggest, KPIs represent parameters which an organization considers important for the success of its operations and for which track of should be kept.

For a hostel, for example, a KPI would be occupancy levels. Another KPI could be guests' satisfaction levels. Monthly expenditures could also be anothe KPI.

Any parameter which an organization considers important for its operations could become a KPI for that organization.
