I'm interested in opening a hostel in Vancouver. I realse there are already a few hostels in Vancouver but I'm not afraid of the competition and I would like to offer a unique experience for travellers to Vancouver.
I'm still in the research stage (which is what brought me to this fantastic forum) and as the heading says, I'm looking for a partner for this project. I do have some financial backing but I'm not sure if it's enough since I haven't done any calculations in that regard.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you feel you can't provide any financial support because there are other types of support and advice I could use especially if you've worked at a hostel before. I don't have the experience but I do have the passion and desire for it so lets make this happen!

Hi There, where in vancouver are you looking? I have a hostel in the ski resort of Hakuba Japan www.thelabhakuba.com and Queenstown NZ www.thelabqueenstown.com starting in one of the resorts in Canada would be a natural progression for us. Cheers, Quentin

My research so far has included downtown Vancouver. The other option would be close to Whistler but HI is opening a 100+ bed close to Whistler Village in July and I'm not sure if the market is big enough to warrant another hostel.
As for size, I'd be interested in opening a 40-60 bed hostel in either location.
I've seen the sites for your hostels and they look great! Are you an independent owner? Can I ask how you got started? I've never been to either place but I'll keep them in mind when I do make it there.

Does anyone have any leads on a building in Vancouver or Montreal. Looking to lease or buy? Have sent word to realtors. Also looking for any info on hostel beds.
