well i don't kow if you already resolved your problem, im still writing my business plan and i've worked in an hostel for more than 3 years, the room size is a really important thing, it dependes by which kind of hostel u wanna do, i'd prefer to do an hostel where ppl are pushed to stay downstaris making friends and "spending their money" we have to invest a lot of money and so this is not really bad to mentione...so for a 4 bed dormitory i think the best size is 12mq2, with this basic kind of size you can find a lot of soluctions like: 2 (4 PEOPLE) bunk beds (decent room with even spece left) 2 bunk bed pluse a single bed (5 PEOPLE) or if u have high ceiling (here in london is really easy to find them) 1 triple bunk bed plus another normal bunk bed (5 people) or 2 triple bunk beds (6 people). im feel that people will complain if u are unable to offer them any other place where to enjoy and they are pushed to stay in their rooms, but if the hostel has an amazing receptions, a bar and somethings like that who cares to stay on the room? so for sleeping it's enough.
