If you send me a link to your website here or by private message I could take a look.
I have a small hostel and am toying with the idea of trying a google adwords campaign to up the clicks to my website as my site does not rank high!!!
Is is worthwhile with a Hostelworld, hostelbookers etc taking up the bidding spots or drigving up the prices? Does anyone have any ideas on budget and bidding levels? Or have hads any success

I tried to set up Adwords on my site uktrail.com, for the same purpose. I got very confused and bewildered by their method of doing business. Basically, their philosophy seems to be: "Try something. If you don't do very well, this is bad for us so we will make it MORE difficult for you to try again." Even though I had a free offer of a good number of units, I found it totally frustrating and gave up very soon.

It can take a while to figure out AdWords. The $50 credits go quickly because clicks for hostel keywords often can run USD $0.40 to $1 just to get the ad listed.
If you bid on the content network, keep the bid lower than for on the search results pages. People who see your ad when searching for "hostels in [city]" are more likely to make a booking than someone who accidentally stumbles across your ad while surfing random YouTube videos.
