Google places

I am sure many businesses are aware of Google places. It is a great way to promote your business (hostel/hotel etc) as local search becomes more important.

It's free to set up and fairly self-explanatory google.com/places.

You can't change (that I know of) the email address that you use to sign up with, so make sure it is a generic one for your company.

Another tip is to make sure all of your phone number and address details are *exactly* the same as they appear on your website and on any other websites.

From what I have read "St." for example is not the same as "Street". The important thing is to be consistent with all of your web properties.

I have set this up for a business (not a hostel) and it has been very, very effective in get a high ranking for highly searched keyword phrase.
