Great topic!
In my opinion your description should be
- Clear – use simple language that non-native speakers will understand and spell check it
- Indicative of what you offer – set the correct expectations by telling your guests what they will get from your hostel
- Positive – focus on what you do well, and avoid criticizing your competition
- Targeted – make it particularly appealing to the type of people that you want to have in your hostel
- Short – many people lose interest in reading and move straight to your photos or reviews
As a general rule I always like to list a feature with a benefit. The feature is the thing that you offer. The benefit answers the question “so what?” and tells why the feature is useful for your guests.
For example:
You might have your feature – location in the center of the city
And the benefit – so it’s easy to find / so all the entertainment is within easy walking distance / so you don’t have to spend money on public transportation / so it’s no problem to find food at 4:00am / etc.
