Liability waiver

Hello again,
Do any hostel owners out there make guests sign any kind of liability waiver (for personal injury, theft, etc.) before checking them in? I have heard that liability waivers are not legally binding in the case of hostels because the guest does not have sole control of the room (other guests in it), like one would in a hotel, for instance. Of course, nothing can replace the need for a good insurance policy, but I figure it couldn't hurt other than adding another piece of paper that the guest needs to sign and we need to file. What are you guys' thoughts on this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
