This is my 1st post on this forum and I'm excited about the wealth of information it has already provided me.
I'm in the process of determining the huge task of opening a Hostel abroad.
I live in Canada and hope to try and open something in France or Italy. Those are my 1st choices, but I realize being Canadian I might have issues starting a business somewhere in the EU. That being said is it "really" that hard for a Canadian to start a business like a Hostel in Europe?...What are the main criteria for this sort of venture?
I remember traveling through Portugal many years ago. Many bars etc... run by Canadians.
The EU is not the only area I'm willing to try a business, it's just my preference. I'm open to many other warm climate places.
Anyone who might have had this sort of experience trying to open something in the EU as a non citizen please share any thoughts or advice you might have.

if you have enough $CDN available to "waste", go to Portugal and meet with the Canadians in business. (if you can find them online, better!) and arrange a meeting. a face to face may be more rewarding. then say you want France as a place of business, a short hop over to France and you could view possible properties.
