Room Size and Number of Toilets and showers

I am in a planning stage to Open a Hostel with 150 Beds in UK.

We have rooms starting from 4 Beds to 20 beds per room.

Most of the rooms we have can Take 16 people and can be mead with en-suite facilities i.e 2 showers, 2 Toilets and 2 basins for 16 people.

My questions is since its a 16 bed rooms would it be a disturbances for the other guests when one is using the en-suite facilities having saying that we have partitions with in the rooms and sound proofed them but still the opening of doors will still make some noise.

or should we just make a separate Toilets and shower areas like a communal use.

What would be in Demand?

I've found that people really appreciate having en-suite facilities but you're right, especially in a smaller dorm it can disturb guests. I've worked at hostels with en-suite dorm showers which guests found particularly annoying when those leaving at early hours needed to shower before their flights. I am currently at a hostel with restrooms and showers outside the dorm rooms and, though some complain about the doors being opened and closed during the night, most are much happier with this arrangement then they were with en-suite bathrooms in my last hostel.

The more hostels I stay in I think that for private rooms en-suites are great if you can have them.

With dorms I think bathrooms outside the dorms are better.

For the reasons stated above in regards noise and smells and also access for cleaning.

With bathrooms outside the dorm they can be cleaned numerous times a day without entering the rooms.

I also prefer to have ensuite bathrooms in private rooms and communal bathrooms outside of dormitories.

That said, you won’t avoid the noise of the doors regardless of whether the bathroom is inside the dorm or outside. If the bathrooms are outside the dorm, then each guest still has to open and close the door of the room to get there.

Would the toilets, showers, and basins all be separated from each other as well so that all of them could be used at the same time?

Would there be ventilation to direct the bathroom air out of the area without going through the dorm to avoid unpleasant smells in the sleeping area?

As John pointed out, keeping bathrooms clean is much easier when they are outside of the rooms.
