Google’s new travel app Google Trips is now in beta testing

Google is getting in on the travel app game.  Google Trips, currently in beta testing, will have several useful in-destination features for travelers:

• Keeps track of your travel details, such as reservations
• Incorporates Google maps and directions
• Shows transportation options like taxis, trains, metros, buses, and rideshares
• Gives suggestions for local things to do, like attractions, restaurants, etc.
• Provides practical information such as addresses and opening hours

All features will be available offline.

Given Google’s extensive access to information about every business and attraction in the world, plus the fact that they're already in everyone's pocket, it may be tough for any other in-destination travel app to compete.
