Satisfying 100% of hostel owners and managers is a tall order. Everyone’s business is unique and operates in slightly (or vastly) different ways, so finding a solution that works for everyone will be very difficult. But I like that you’re trying!
Just off the top of my head:
- Channel management (direct connection to booking sites or collaboration with Channel Managers)
- Booking engine for our own websites
- Revenue management tools
- Customer Relationship Management tools
- Competition comparison tools
- Multi-currency functionality
- Cloud and desktop options to stay operational no matter what
- Customizable reports that can be run by filtering info from a database
- Ability to create an extra bed in a dorm for just one night and assign a guest profile to it
- Ability to combine or separate guest folios for people traveling in groups
- Housekeeping modules
- POS functionality with inventory management for bar/restaurant/merchandise sales
- Verifications of payments/inventory/cash when receptionists change shifts
I’m sure everyone else will have their own Must-Have features and Deal Breaker requirements. I’m curious to hear what everyone has to say about this.
