why don't you surf the opensource scene and find out what free alternatives there are out there? i know there are many. read some reviews and try them out till you find one that has the features you need and you find easy to go about :)

Opensource is a good way to go... A really innovative low cost (and very robust for it's age) is http://xero.com (i personally use this.. so easy it's nearly fun) MYOB or Quickbooks if you want to pay some more

If you only need it for personal reports, you could try AceMoney. Beyond the basic stuff you can transfer between accounts, use multiple currencies with up to date exchange rates and build custom reports. Pretty good for $30... ;)

If you can get your hands on a copy of QuickBooks 2008, that's your best bet. It's definitely very user friendly and much less complicated than the newer versions.

Hi there! I'm looking for accounting software for our small 10-bed hostel. I've been using Google Spreadsheets to record the cashflow but the spreadsheet is getting too big! Basically I'm looking for profit/loss reports, categorizing expenses, that kind of stuff.
I've been hearing good things about GnuCash, does anyone over here use it? What about Quickbooks? Or perhaps there's an even better solution I'm not even aware of?
