Best solution for 10 room hostel/hostel

Hi. we are taking over a small hotel and hostel, it will be 10 rooms, 4 of them hotel, 5 hostel private and 1 dorm. what would be the best hotelsystem for us? the summer will be crazy busy and winter will be quiet.

I was thinking to do it on paper since its so few rooms but would be nice to have a system if not to expensive that will allocate bookings directly into the system.

Any ideas?

Hi Sofie,

What is the difference between a hotel private and a hostel private room in your setup? Is that based on ensuite bathrooms vs shared bathrooms?

You could certainly use the paper method (or excel, or a Google Docs spreadsheet) for a property that size. A decent PMS system will make things easier for you in the long run though. There are a ton of them out there to choose from.

As for which one would be the best for you, I couldn't really say. That depends on what you want from it and how much you're willing to pay for it. At least this might give you a place to start comparing.

If you are familiar with WordPress you can use it both for your hostel site, online bookings and booking management. There are multiple inexpensive plugins like ours that are created for hostels and small hotels.

Hi Sofie,
the property management system MisterXbookings is in use for several years in a small family run hotel here in Berlin which looks very similar in size (12 rooms + appartement) and needs to what you are going to open. They were also looking for a system which fits to their very basic needs and expecially won't hurt their workflow by any unwanted 'features' which might come up to be tightening corsets instead. They asked for a six month trial period to find out if the system would really work for them especially in high season too. The trial finally took eight month and after some minor modifications in the end they decided to use the system and are still working with it.
I would be willing to make you the same offer to use the system for a whole season if you are interested in trying it.
There has been constant development over the years, including the integration of Myallocator, which has become delayed a bit because of the mayor changes in the connectivity, technically spoken the API (Application Programming Interface) allowing third party vendors like me to directly connect.
As the marketing is a completely different part from the development and support of a software system i can make you this offer free of charge, based on the idea that the tool which has been developed in close cooperation with hostel staff and therefor includes the know how of clever bookkeeping will convince you too.
