Sorry, i only now notice the sticky topic. I thought it was the title of the forum. I will go through there to see what people are saying.
Hi there!
I am considering options in hostel management software, but as you may know there are a few options but it's very hard to know how they really are.
We run a small hostel in Peru. We have made a wordpress website ourselves, use MyAllocator as channel manager and their small BookNow engine on the website.
MyAllocator works well and the booking engine is good enough. People usually book over Booking.com anyway. We don't think it would be very useful to invest a lot in making a fancy booking engine.
What we want is that bookings come in from the chanell manager and go automatically into a (cloud-based?) calendar. It would be great if a welcome email can be sent automatically. This way we save all the hassle of taking in the bookings, writing them down on our paper calendar and sending welcome emails. We will not make mistakes so easily, because bookings will appear on the calendar straight away.
It must be a very clear calendar that can be accessed by our workers with different permissions. Bookings need to be adjusted/extended easily, prices need to be adapted easily. Our people tend to switch rooms a lot, because we book out quick. Then finally we would like the system to be holding the total bill.. So extra sales (like beers or yoga classes) have to be added and then an employee can close the bill. The idea is that workers can do this easily from our computer at reception.
I assume that any hostel needs this? But the different options are very vague. Cloudbeds seems nice, but costs a lot. Any other option i find i have no idea how it works, or how the calendar would actually look like.
Can someone help me? That would be great.
Thanks!
Paul

quick question:
With these PMS's do all bookings go directly into a calendar (through the channel manager), so from Booking.com, Hostelworld and booking engine? So that the calendar is always up to date and online reservations are always automatically there?
For me the most important feature is the calendar. That it works easily and that it is very clear. I tend to see the examples of the on-screen calendars and think they look ugly..
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Our software has inbuilt channel manager and all booking go directly in to the Calendar. You can add extra services like Yoga with one tick and it adds to the price the guest has to pay. There are unlimited automated emails you can setup before arrival, when staying, or for after departure. You can send discount codes and the guest can use them to return. You can send automated anniversary emails with discount codes. etc etc. www.hosteloffice.com
